ROOTS SERIES
These delicate works on paper combine my own original photographic images of my hometown (Reading, PA), as well as images of my current and past home neighborhoods. Through this body of work, I'm exploring the idea of letting go of a place I've been, lived, and experienced that I disliked, and owning and declaring my unique preferences, tastes, and interests, regardless of what the people around me say, do, or feel about my choices. I'm releasing the roots that bound me to my urban hometown, and instead, am celebrating my true desire to live in and around nature. Each piece begins with a gritty image from my hometown and is flanked by images of nature and suburban and/or countryside dwellings.
