ROOTS SERIES
These delicate works on paper combine my own original photographic imagery of my hometown (Reading, PA), as well as images of my current and past neighborhoods. Through this body of work, I explored the idea of letting go of a place I lived that I disliked, and owned and declared my unique preferences, tastes, and interests, regardless of what the people around me say, do, or feel about my choices. I released the roots that bound me to my urban hometown, and instead, celebrated my true desire to live in and around nature. Each piece in this series begins with a gritty image from my hometown and is flanked by images of nature, suburban, and/or countryside dwellings.
