CONNECTION COLLAGES
This ongoing series of delicate mixed media works on paper investigates notions of pairing, intimacy, and interrelatedness. Throughout this series I explore the achingly transient nature of love and connection, as well as the exquisiteness of building a close, trusting, and harmonious relationship with another human being. I play with image coupling and connectivity among seemingly disparate visual elements, utilizing only fragments and cut-off slivers to represent the pull of unfulfilled closeness; as well as micro, close-up details to convey the sensuous and hazy warmth generated when two people share genuine love. I assemble these collages using my own, original photography, as well as tempera and acrylic paint, colored pencil, and graphite.
