CONNECTION COLLAGES
In this ongoing series of delicate mixed-media works on paper, I gather dissimilar photographic fragments, bringing them together into collages that feel as though they have always belonged—or as if they have found one another after a long period of separation. I am drawn to the subtle art of creating harmony between elements, softening distinctions—particularly along the edges—while allowing each fragment to retain its distinct personality. Within each composition, I build visual “bridges” that ease transitions and resolve tension, guiding the eye through moments of contrast and convergence. There is a quiet satisfaction in this process, almost like matchmaking: discovering shared qualities among disparate pieces and reconciling their differences. Each work is assembled using color reproductions of my original photography, layered with tempera and acrylic paint, colored pencil, and graphite.
