SELF-PORTRAITS
This series of drawings is an attempt to gain greater clarity and perspective about myself, specifically exploring the realms of my own self-worth, or lack of. With each drawing, I take a quick snapshot of myself, resisting the urge to perfect the angles, then immediately draw what I "think" I see. I try to avoid excessive corrections, and rather than aiming to create an accurate looking portrait of myself, I instead go with the flow of the initial mark-makings. I trust the lines that emerge from my tools and try not to backtrack. In this way, I hope to explore and examine the infinite ways of seeing oneself, knowing in every single moment we are changing and moving, and ultimately realizing our perceptions of ourselves are fragile, fickle, unfixed, and open to interpretation at all times.
