...This series of photographs reflects my ongoing obsession with playing in the spaces between photography and paint. Although I did not use paint to construct these compositions, there are painting-like aspects throughout, as I attempt to make a photograph look more like a painting. Color fields and delicate gradients appear like watercolor washes, and blurry marks within the details seem painterly and human-made. These original photographs were shot with the intention of deliberately abstracting reality, in this case, pieces of fruit. With a close-up filter and natural light, I was able to capture snippets of dripping and decadent organic details, and yet maintain my goal of keeping the subject matter visually swimming in a dreamlike state...
